Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr. (né Gay; 2 April 1939 – 1 April 1984)[1] adalah seorang penyanyi, musisi, dan penulis lagu R&B dan soul asal Amerika. Dia membantu membentuk suara Motown pada tahun 1960-an, pertama sebagai pemain sesi internal dan kemudian sebagai artis solo dengan serangkaian kesuksesan, yang membuatnya mendapatkan julukan "Prince of Motown" dan "Prince of Soul". Gaye sering dianggap sebagai salah satu penyanyi terbaik sepanjang masa.
Hits Motown Gaye termasuk "How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved by You)" (1964), "Ain't That Peculiar" (1965), dan "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" (1968). Dia juga merekam duet dengan Mary Wells, Kim Weston, Tammi Terrell, dan Diana Ross. Pada tahun 1970-an, Gaye menjadi salah satu artis Motown pertama yang melepaskan diri dari kendali perusahaan produksi dan merekam album-album penting What's Going On (1971) dan Let's Get It On (1973).
