Penghargaan Arsitektur Pritzker adalah penghargaan tahunan yang diberikan kepada arsitek yang masih hidup, dan telah memberikan kontribusi bagi kemanusiaan dan lingkungan binaan melalui seni arsitektur[2] Penghargaan diberikan sejak tahun 1979 oleh Hyatt Foundation untuk menghormati pendiri jaringan hotel Hyatt, pengusaha Jay A. Pritzker.

Penghargaan Pritzker dikelola oleh keluarga Pritzer yang banyak bermurah hati membiayai berbagai kegiatan budaya dan ilmu pengetahuan. Penghargaan yang pertama diberikan kepada Philip Johnson asal Amerika Serikat. Setelah berlangsung beberapa tahun, Penghargaan Pritzer mencapai status sebagai Penghargaan Nobel di bidang arsitektur.[3]

Pemberian penghargaan setiap tahunnya dilakukan di gedung-gedung dengan rancangan arsitektur terkenal. Upacara penyerahan sekaligus peringatan hari jadi ke-20 Penghargaan Pritzker dilangsungkan di Gedung Putih. Namun 7 bulan setelah upacara tersebut, Jay A. Pritzker meninggal dunia akibat serangan jantung pada tanggal 23 Januari 1999. Putra tertuanya, Thomas J. Pritzker sekarang menjabat ketua The Hyatt Foundation.

Pemenang menerima hadiah uang sejumlah 100 ribu dolar AS. Selain hadiah uang, pemenang mendapat medali perunggu yang didesain oleh bapak gedung pencakar langit, Louis H. Sullivan. Pemenang juga mendapat jaminan ketenaran sebagai arsitek kelas dunia, dan tawaran proyek dari berbagai kontraktor.
