Curtis Emerson LeMay (15 November 1906 – 1 Oktober 1990) adalah seorang jenderal dalam Angkatan Udara Amerika Serikat dan calon wakil presiden dari kandidat Partai Independen Amerika George Wallace dalam pemilihan presiden 1968.

Curtis LeMay dikenal karena merancang dan mengimplementasikan kampanye pengeboman strategis sistematis, efektif namun juga kontroversial di teater Pasifik saat Perang Dunia II. Pada masa perang tersebut, ia dikenal karena merencanakan dan mengeksekusi kampanye pengeboman masif terhadap kota-kota di Jepang. Ia menjabat sebagai Ketua Staf Angkatan Udara AS dari 1961 sampai ia pensiun pada 1965.

Kehidupan awal

LeMay lahir di Columbus, Ohio, pada 15 November 1906. LeMay berdarah Prancis Kanada dan Inggris.^[4]

Karier

Pada Agustus 1937, sebagai navigator di bawah pilot dan komandan Caleb V. Haynes pada Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, dia membantu menemukan kapal perang Utah meskipun diberi koordinat yang salah oleh personel Angkatan Laut, dalam latihan yang diadakan dalam kondisi berkabut di California, setelah itu kelompok B-17 membomnya dengan bom air.
