With due respect, I write to express my disappointment towards the attitude of your organization concerning my lost luggage . Before now, I hold Turkish Airline in high esteem as the best in the industry but my experience of the past months has given me a lot of concern about how your treat your passengers.
May I use this opportunity to remind you that on …..date August 26, 2012, I took a Turkish flight from Misurata, Libya via Istanbul to Jakarta, Indonesia. I paid the fare and luggage expensive. On arrival at Soekarno Hartta International airport, Jakarta, Indonesia, I couldn't find a luggage containing my personal valuables. This I duly reported to your office at the airport and filled the notification of lost form as instructed. Then, I was told in a few days my luggage will be returned to me.
I have waited patiently for the past months hoping that my luggage would be returned to me as promised but until date , nothing has actually happened. What is shocking to me is the silence your organization has maintained over the issue for almost five months. It is unprofessional and disappointing to abandon me to my fate . How do I explain to the world that a luggage entrusted in your care got lost and five months after there has not been any reasonable explanation as to what happened to my luggage.
Your action or inaction has caused me untold hardship and psychological trauma. I am therefore giving your organization two weeks to provide me with a reasonable explanation to what happened to my luggage and to return it to me accordingly. If no reasonable course of action is taken on this issue after the expiration of two weeks, I would be forced to embark on any legal actions deem necessary against your organization.
I hope that this issue can be resolved amicably and soon.

Turkish Airlines, Inc. (Bahasa Turki: Türk Hava Yolları Anonim Ortakliği) (THY) merupakan maskapai penerbangan nasional Turki yang berbasis di Istanbul. Maskapai ini mengoperasikan jaringan penerbangan menuju 103 kota di luar negeri dan 30 di Turki, melayani total 136 bandara, di Eropa, Asia, Afrika dan Amerika Serikat. Basis utamanya terletak di Bandar Udara Internasional Atatürk (IST), Istanbul, dengan hub kedua di Bandar Udara Internasional Esenboga (ESB), Ankara dan Bandar Udara Internasional Sabiha Gokcen (SAW), Istanbul. Pada 2006, maskapai ini mengangkut 17 juta penumpang dengan total pendapatan US$3 miliar. [1] Karyawannya berjumlah sekitar 12.000 orang.

Sejarah

Maskapai ini didirikan pada 20 Mei 1933, dengan nama Administrasi Maskapai Penerbangan Negara - Hava Yolları Devlet Işletmesi Idaresi (DHY). Operasinya dimulai dengan rute Istanbul, Eskişehir, Ankara pada Agustus 1933. Pada September 1937, maskapai ini menerima tiga De Havilland D.H. 86B bersayap ganda. Desember kemudian, DHY menerima pesawat keempat. Pesawat-pesawat tersebut menambah rute domestik DHY menuju Istanbul, Eskisehir, Izmir, Ankara, Adana, Kayseri dan Diyarbakir.[1] Namanya berubah menjadi Devlet Hava Yolları Umum Müdürlüğü (DHY) pada Juni 1938. Penerbangan internasional pertama dilakukan pada 1947 menuju Athena tetapi itu merupakan 40 tahun yang lalu sebelum perkenalan penerbangan jarak jauh menuju Timur Jauh dan trans-Atlantik.

Dalam sebuah reorganisasi, perusahan negara ini diganti oleh sebuah perusahaan campuran, Türk Hava Yolları AO (THY) pada 20 Februari 1956. Sahamnya dimiliki oleh Kementerian Administrasi Partisipasi Publik pada 1990, yang diambil pada Desember 1990 sekitar 5%. Pemerintah kemudian menjual sekitar 23.0% saham kepada publik pada Desember 2004 dan 28.75% pada Mei 2006. Saham maskapai ini sekarang dimiliki oleh TC Privatisation Administration (49%) dan pemegang saham pribadi (51%). Turkish juga memiliki saham 50% pada maskapai SunExpress, setengah lainnya dimiliki Thomas Cook Jerman. Telah dibentuk pada September 2006, sebuah pelayanan maskapai JV dengan Do&Co Restaurants & Catering of Austria. Turkish Airlines mengundurkan diri dari grup Qualiflyer pada 1999, karena ketidakcocokannya dengan Swissair dan Delta. Pusat perawatan

Turkish Airlines memiliki sebuah pusat perawatan di hub Bandar Udara Internasional Atatürk, (IST) di Istanbul. Pusat Perawatan Turkish Airlines (THY Technic) bertanggungjawab atas semua perawatan, perbaikan dan penggantian seluruh pesawat, mesin, APU dan komponen THY.

Insiden dan Kecelakaan

Sejak didirikan pada tahun 1933 Turkish Airlines telah mengalami empat kecelakaan pada penerbangan internasional, dan 18 pada domestik. Kecelakaan paling terburuk dialami oleh Turkish Airlines Penerbangan 981, yang jatuh di Perancis pada 3 Maret 1974 karena dekompresi ledakan, menewaskan 346 orang. Penyebab utama adalah kesalahan rancangan pintu kargo pesawat DC-10. Sebelum Bencana Tenerife, Penerbangan 981 merupakan kecelakaan pesawat terburuk.

Pada 25 Februari 2009, Penerbangan 1951 yang menggunakan Boeing 737-800 dan membawa 134 penumpang jatuh dekat Bandara Schipol, Amsterdam dan patah tiga. 9 orang meninggal dalam peristiwa ini.
