Wes Ball (lahir 28 Oktober 1980) adalah seorang sutradara dan produser film Amerika. Dia banyak dikenal ketika menyutradarai trilogi film Maze Runner (2014–2018), berdasarkan serial novel dengan nama yang sama karangan James Dashner. Dia juga akan menyutradarai film yang akan datang yaitu Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024), film keempat pada serial reboot Planet of the Apes.

Ball menghadiri Crescent City High School dan lulus pada tahun 1999. Dia kemudian lulus dari Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts dengan gelar Bachelor of Fine Arts pada 2002.[1] Di 2003, dia memenangkan Student Academy Award untuk film animasi pendeknya A Work in Progress.[2]

Ball memulai karirnya sebagai pembuat film di Hollywood dengan film animasi pendek berjudul Ruin, yang kemudian dilihat pihak eksekutif dari 20th Century Fox dan menawarkannya pekerjaan untuk menyutradarai adaptasi dari The Maze Runner.[3] The Maze Runner kemudian menjadi film panjang pertama bagi Ball.[4] Dibuat dengan biaya $34 juta, film ini menghasilkan $348 juta di penerimaan box office.[5] Tidak lama setelah kesuksesan film itu, Ball menandatangani kesepakatan first look deal dengan 20th Century Fox dibawah panji rumah produksi OddBall Entertainment miliknya.[6]

Ball terkait untuk menyutradarai adaptasi film dari Fall of Gods, novel ilustrasi yang dibiayai massa dari Studio asal Denmark Mood Studios.[7]

Pada 2017, Ball dipekerjakan untuk menyutradarai film hibrida aksi-hidup/VFX adaptasi dari Mouse Guard, untuk 20th Century Fox dengan naskah oleh Gary Whitta dan T.S. Nowlin, sementara Matt Reeves, Ross Richie dan Stephen Christy bertindak sebagai produser.[8][9] Produksi sebelumnya diharapkan dimulai pada Mei 2019, namun karena proses akuisisi Fox oleh the Walt Disney Company pada awal tahun itu, proyek diberhentikan produksinya dua minggu sebelum syuting dimulai.[10][11]

Pada Desember 2019, Disney dan Fox menyewa Ball untuk menulis dan menyutradarai film baru Planet of the Apes, berjudul Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.[12][13] Baru-baru ini, rumah produksinya OddBall Entertainment berpindah ke Paramount Pictures.[14]

Pada Mei 2021, Ball akan menyutradarai The Time Runner, adaptasi film dari novel berjudul yang sama karya Michael Sherman.[15] Pada Maret 2022, Ball akan memproduseri sebuah film berdasarkan salah satu karya buku H. G. Wells.[16]

Pada November 2023, diumumkan bahwa Ball akan menyutradarai film aksi hidup The Legend of Zelda untuk Nintendo dan Sony Pictures, dengan Shigeru Miyamoto dan Avi Arad memproduksi.[17]
