Dalam taksonomi, Thermoplasmatales merupakan ordo dalam Thermoplasmata.[1] Semuanya asidofili, tumbuh optimal pada pH di bawah 2. Picrophilus saat ini yang paling asidofilik dari semua organisme diketahui tumbuh pada pH minimum 0,06.[2] Banyak dari organisme tidak mengandung dinding sel, meskipun hal ini tidak benar dalam kasus Picrophilus. Sebagian besar anggota Thermotoplasmata termofilik.

Filogeni[sunting | sunting sumber]

Taksonomi yang diterima saat ini berdasarkan List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature (LPSN)[3] dan National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)[4] dan filogeni berdasarkan LTP berbasis-16S rRNA release 106 oleh 'The All-Species Living Tree' Project.[5]
