Michael Latham Powell (30 September 1905 – 19 Februari 1990) adalah seorang pembuat film Inggris, yang terkenal karena kemitraannya dengan Emeric Pressburger. Melalui perusahaan produksi mereka The Archers, mereka bersama-sama menulis, memproduksi, dan menyutradarai serangkaian film klasik Inggris, terutama The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), A Canterbury Tale (1944), I Know Where I'm Going! (1945), A Matter of Life and Death (1946, Stairway to Heaven di AS), Black Narcissus (1947), The Red Shoes (1948) dan The Tales of Hoffmann (1951).
Film kontroversialnya Peeping Tom (1960), yang sangat dicemooh pada perilisan pertamanya sehingga merusak kariernya secara serius, sekarang dianggap sebagai film klasik, dan mungkin film "slasher" paling awal.[2][3][4][5] Banyak pembuat film terkenal, seperti Francis Ford Coppola, George A. Romero, Brian De Palma, Bertrand Tavernier dan Martin Scorsese menyebut Powell sebagai pengaruhnya.[6]
Pada tahun 1981, Powell dan Pressburger menerima BAFTA Fellowship, kehormatan tertinggi British Academy of Film and Television Arts yang dapat diberikan kepada seorang pembuat film. Lima filmnya ditampilkan dalam daftar British Film Institute 100 Greatest British films.[7] Pada tahun 2024, karya mereka dieksplorasi dalam film dokumenter Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger, dinarasikan oleh Scorsese.[8][9] David Thomson menulis "Tidak ada sutradara Inggris yang memiliki banyak film berharga seperti Michael Powell."[10]
