Suku bangsa Slavia

Bangsa Slavia merujuk pada kelompok etnis dan bahasa yang tergolong di dalam keluarga Indo-Eropa, yang mayoritas tinggal di Eropa Timur. Mulai dari abad ke-6 lagi, mereka mulai berpindah dari tanah air mereka untuk tinggal di bagian paling timur di Eropa Tengah, area Eropa Timur lainnya dan juga sekitar Semenanjung Balkan. Banyak yang kemudian terus tinggal di wilayah yang kini dikenal sebagai Siberia dan juga Asia Tengah atau berhijrah ke area lain di seluruh dunia.

Negara-negara modern dan kelompok etnis dengan nama "Slavia" dianggap dari segi genetik dan budaya sebagai kelompok yang beragam dan hubungan di antara mereka adalah berbeda, dari perasaan yang akrab ke perasaan saling membenci. Kelompok etnis ini kini tinggal dan membentuk mayoritas di banyak negara seperti Rusia, Ukraina, Polandia (termasuk kelompok minoritas Kashubi), Ceko, Belarus, Slowakia, Slovenia, Kroasia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Republik Macedonia dan Bosnia-Herzegovina. Negara-negara lain seperti Kazakhstan, Libya, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia dan Latvia juga memiliki bangsa Slavia dalam jumlah yang agak besar.

Di Jerman, orang Sorbia yang kebanyakan tinggal di Lausitz membentuk kelompok minoritas yang dilindungi. Selain itu, Austria turut melindungi yang sama ke grup etnis minoritas Slavia.
