Mehmed Zilli (25 Maret 1611 – setelah 1682), yang dikenal sebagai Evliya Çelebi (Turki Otoman: اوليا چلبى), adalah seorang Turki Ustmaniyah yang menjelajahi seluruh wilayah Kesultanan Utsmaniyah dan wilayah-wilayah sekitarnya selama lebih dari empat puluh tahun, yang ia catat dalam sebuah catatan perjalanan yang berjudul Seyâhatnâme.[1]
Kehidupan
[sunting | sunting sumber]Evliya Çelebi lahir di Istanbul pada tahun 1611 dari sebuah keluarga kaya dari Kütahya. Ayahnya adalah Derviş Mehmed Zilli, seorang penjual perhiasan Utsmaniyah dan ibunya adalah orang Abkhaz. Ibunya juga merupakan kerabat dari vizier agung Melek Ahmed Pasha.[2] Dalam bukunya, Evliya Çelebi silsilah pihak ayahnya berasal dari Ahmed Yesevi.[3]
