Walking on the Chinese Wall'" adalah sebuah lagu yang ditulis oleh Roxanne Seeman, Billie Hughes dan Marcy Levy. Lagu ini direkam oleh Philip Bailey dan menjadi judul lagu dari album Chinese Wall. Seeman dan Hughes bertemu dan mulai menulis lagu bersama-sama hanya setelah dia kembali dari tiga minggu perjalanan melalui Cina. Segera setelah itu, Hughes pergi ke Osaka untuk melakukan, tinggal di Jepang selama empat bulan. Setelah kembali, mereka mulai berkerja sama dan membeli peralatan rekaman. Untuk lagu pertama Hughes menciptakan di Oberheim OB8 synthesizer baru dan DMX mesin drum, Hughes meminta Seeman untuk "tulislah sesuatu dalam bahasa Cina". Setelah berjalan di The Great Wall, di Gerbang Utara di luar Beijing, Seeman datang dengan lirik "walking on the chinese wall" untuk refrain. Baris berikutnya "watching for the coins to fall" mengarah pada I Ching coins. Seeman mengambil pengetahuan dari studi Cina seni dan sastra, membuat referensi untuk I Ching ("Kitab Perubahan") dan Dream of the Red Chamber (salah satu dari Empat Novel Klasik Besar sastra Cina), seperti di bridge lirik "Red chamber dream, from the sky above, ancient tales of hidden Chinese love."

In September 2004, Alicia Keys headlined the first pop concert in history staged on the Great Wall of China. Performers included Boyz II Men, Cyndi Lauper, Nellie McKay, Sylvia Tosun and Doyle Bramhall II. Billie Hughes and Roxanne Seeman's song "Walking On The Chinese Wall" by Philip Bailey produced by Phil Collins was the finale of the event.
