Teofilin[1] atau 1,3-dimetilxantin adalah obat yang menghambat fosfodiesterase dan memblokir reseptor adenosin.[2] Ini digunakan untuk mengobati Penyakit paru obstruktif kronis (PPOK) dan asma.[3] Farmakologinya mirip dengan obat metilxantin lainnya (misalnya teobromina dan kafeina).[2] Teofilin dalam jumlah kecil secara alami terdapat dalam teh, kopi, coklat, yerba maté, guarana, dan kacang kola.[2][4]
Namanya berasal dari Thea (nama genus sebelumnya untuk teh) + Bahasa Yunani Warisan φύλλον (phúllon, artinya “daun”) + -ine.
Kegunaan
Efek dari pemakaian teofilin yakni:[3]
- relaksasi otot polos bronkus
- meningkatkan kontraktilitas dan efisiensi otot jantung (inotropik positif)
- peningkatan denyut jantung (kronotropik positif)
- meningkatkan tekanan darah
- meningkatkan aliran darah ginjal *efek anti-inflamasi
- efek stimulasi sistem saraf pusat, terutama pada pusat pernapasan meduler[5]
Kegunaan terapeutik utama teofilin adalah untuk mengobati:[3]
