Rute Negara Bagian 18 (SR 18) adalah 147-mil-long (237 km) negara bagian jalan raya yang membentang dari barat ke timur melalui bagian Troup, Harris, Meriwether, Pike, Lamar, Monroe, Jones, Wilkinson, dan Twiggs di bagian barat dan tengah di negara bagian Georgia di AS. Jalan raya ini menghubungkan US 29/SR 14 di West Point, tepat di sebelah timur garis negara bagian Alabama, dengan US 80/SR 19/SR 96 di Jeffersonville, melalui Pine Mountain, Greenville, Zebulon, Barnesville, Forsyth, Gray, dan Gordon.

Deskripsi rute[sunting | sunting sumber]

SR 18 bergerak ke timur dari ujung baratnya di West Point di Troup County, melintasi I-85 di sebelah timur West Point, dan turun sedikit ke tenggara ke Harris County bagian utara, yang melintasi I-185 dan berlanjut ke Pine Mountain di perbatasan kabupaten dengan Meriwether County. Berbelok ke timur laut, SR 18 melakukan perjalanan ke Greenville di tengah Meriwether County, dan bersamaan dengan US 27/SR 1 dari persimpangannya di selatan Greenville ke pusat kota Greenville, tempat SR 18 berbelok ke tenggara, bersamaan dengan SR 109, dan melakukan perjalanan ke Woodbury.

Belok ke timur dan menyeberang ke Pike County, rutenya kembali berbelok ke timur laut dan melewati Molena, di mana konkurensinya dengan SR 109 berakhir, ke Concord, yang berbelok ke timur dan bergerak ke Zebulon. 1920an hingga 1940an[sunting | sunting sumber]

SR 18 didirikan setidaknya pada awal tahun 1919 di jalurnya saat ini, dari Greenville hingga Barnesville.[2] Pada akhir September 1921, jalur ini diperpanjang ke selatan-tenggara bersamaan dengan SR 41 ke Harris, kemudian pada satu-satunya jalur ke barat daya menuju SR 1 di Chipley.[2][3] Antara Oktober 1926 dan Oktober 1929, segmen Chipley–Harris memiliki "permukaan keras yang telah selesai".[4][5] Pada pertengahan tahun 1930, segmen Harris–Greenville juga memiliki permukaan keras yang telah selesai.[5][6] Pada bulan Februari 1932, SR 18 didirikan di segmen dari Forsyth hingga Gray. Namun, tidak ada indikasi apakah mereka terhubung melalui konkurensi dengan US 41/SR 19.[7][8] Pada bulan September, a bagian timur Greenville memiliki permukaan keras yang telah selesai.[9][10] Pada bulan Mei 1933, seluruh segmen Greenville–Woodbury selesai dibangun.[11][12] Pada bulan Februari 1934, SR 18 diperpanjang ke arah barat hingga West Point.[13][14] Dua tahun kemudian, sebagian sebelah barat Zebulon selesai dibangun.[15][16] Antara September 1938 dan bulan Juli 1939, jalur SR 19 dari Barnesville ke tenggara Forsyth terpotong ke titik terakhir. SR 18 ditetapkan pada segmen ini sebagai gantinya. Itu juga diperpanjang ke tenggara dari Gray ke SR 57 di selatan Gordon. Segmen dari Barnesville ke tenggara Forsyth, sebagian tenggara Gray; dan bagian selatan Gordon semuanya memiliki permukaan keras yang telah selesai.[17][18] Pada tahun 1942, dua segmen memiliki permukaan keras yang telah selesai: sebagian sebelah barat Chipley dan dari Woodbury hingga perkiraan lokasi Molena.[19] [20] Dua tahun kemudian, SR 18 diperluas ke arah selatan-barat daya Jeffersonville.[21][22] Antara awal tahun 1945 dan November 1946, seluruh segmen Woodbury–Zebulon terlihat keras.[22][23] Pada bulan Februari 1948, dua segmen juga mengalami permukaan keras : segmen West Point–Chipley dan dari Gray ke selatan-barat daya Gordon.[23][24]


1950-an hingga 2000-an[sunting | sunting sumber]

Antara April 1949 dan Agustus 1950, US 27 Alt. ditetapkan di segmen Harris City – Greensville. Dua segmen permukaannya keras: segmen Zebulon–Barnesville dan bagian barat segmen Forsyth–Gray di Monroe County.[25][26] Pada awal tahun 1952, seluruh bagian timur dari segmen terakhir ini (kecuali ujung timur) memiliki permukaan yang keras.[26][27] Pada tahun 1953, ujung paling timur dari segmen ini juga mengalami permukaan keras.[28][29] Antara Juni 1954 dan Juni 1955, bagian SR 18 dari selatan Gordon hingga Jeffersonville permukaannya keras.[30][31] Pada bulan Juli 1957, sebagian barat-barat daya Gray juga mengalami permukaan keras .[31][32] Antara Juni 1960 dan Juni 1963 , bagian Junes County dari segmen Forsyth–Gray muncul dengan keras.[33][34] Pada awal tahun 1966, bagian selatan barat daya jalan elak Barnesville diusulkan dari SR 18 di Aldora ke jalan tak bernomor di selatan Barnesville.[34][35] Pada tahun 1967, jalan pintas ini dibangun sebagai bagian dari US 341/SR 7.[36][37] Pada tahun 1986, jalur SR 18 diubah rutenya di Barnesville: jalur tersebut bergerak ke utara melalui US 341/SR 7, lalu ke selatan-tenggara melalui US 41, sebelum melanjutkan jalur sebelumnya.[38][39] Pada tahun 1993, bagian dari jalan pintas selatan Gray, yang ditetapkan sebagai SR 932, diusulkan dari US 129/SR  11/SR 18/SR 22 di bagian barat daya kota hingga SR 18 di bagian tenggara kota.[40][41] Lima tahun kemudian, jalur SR 18 di Griffin dipindahkan ke selatan, menggantikan jalur SR 932 yang diusulkan.[42][43] Pada tahun 2007, jalur US 41/SR 18 di Barnesville area tersebut bergeser ke selatan, memotong jalur US 341/SR 7 ke terminal utara saat ini.[44][45]

Rute Negara Bagian 18 Spur (SR 18 Spur) adalah rute pacu dari SR 18 yang sepenuhnya berada di dalam batas kota Gordon. Antara bulan Juni 1963 dan awal tahun 1966, jalur ini didirikan dari SR 18 hingga SR 243.[34][35] Pada tahun 2012, rute pacu ini dinonaktifkan.[46][47]Seluruhnya route dulu di dalam Gordon, Wilkinson County.
