Disafiliasi agama

Disafiliasi agama adalah tindakan meninggalkan kepercayaan, atau kelompok atau komunitas agama. Dalam beberapa peristiwa, tindakan tersebut merupakan tindakan pindah agama. Beberapa istilah lain dipakai untuk proses tersebut, meskipun setiap istilah tersebut memiliki pengartian dan konotasi berbeda.^[1]

Para peneliti memajukan berbagai istilah untuk menyebut disafiliasi, yang meliputi ^[2] pembelotan, murtad^[3] dan pelepasan.^[4] Ini berbeda dengan ekskomunikasi, yang merupakan disafiliasi dari organisasi agama yang memberikan hukuman kepada seorang anggota, ketimbang kehendak yang diambil oleh anggota tersebut.
