George "Buddy" Guy (lahir 30 Juli 1936)[1] adalah seorang gitaris dan penyanyi blues Amerika. Dia adalah seorang ahli dalam Chicago blues yang telah memengaruhi generasi gitaris termasuk Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., dan John Mayer. Pada tahun 1960-an, Guy bermain dengan Muddy Waters sebagai gitaris sesi di Chess Records dan memulai kemitraan musik dengan virtuoso harmonika blues Junior Wells.

Guy telah memenangkan delapan Grammy Awards dan Lifetime Achievement Award, National Medal of Arts, dan Kennedy Center Honors. Buddy Guy terlahir sebagai George Guy pada 30 Juni, 1936 di Lettsworth, Lousiana. Dia terlahir dalam lima bersaudara dari pasangan Sam dan Isabel Guy. Saat berumur tujuh tahun, ia memiliki ketertarikan tinggi terhadap musik. Pada usia ini pula ia membuat instrumen swakarya dari sepotong kayu dan jepit rambut yang ia anggap sebuah gitar.[7]

Ketika usianya menginjak 19 tahun, Guy mulai bekerja di Lousiana State University sebagai seorang kustodian. Pada waktu yang sama, ia juga mendapat gitar pertamanya dan mulai bermain di klub-klub sekitar Baton Rouge. Walaupun ia terus meningkatkan kemampuan bermusiknya, ia hanya baru memulai karier bermusiknya pada musim panas tahun 1957.[7]
