Akuaporin 3 ditemukan pada membran sel basolateral sel utama tubulus koligentes dan menyediakan jalur bagi air untuk keluar dari sel tersebut.^[3] Di dalam ginjal, AQP3 diregulasi oleh vasopresin (ADH).^[4] Protein ini juga merupakan determinan untuk sistem golongan darah GIL.^[5]

Asam suberanilohidroksamat (SAHA) (inhibitor HDAC) meningkatkan ekspresi akuaporin-3 pada sel kulit normal (keratinosit).^[6]

Signifikansi klinis[sunting | sunting sumber]

Konsentrasi AQP3 sering kali lebih rendah pada psoriasis dibandingkan dengan kulit sehat.^[6]

AQP3 lebih diekspresikan pada eksem atopik.^[7]
