Ovulasi

Ovulation occurs about midway through the menstrual cycle, after the follicular phase, and is followed by the luteal phase. Note that ovulation is characterized by a sharp spike in levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), resulting from the peak of estrogen levels during the follicular phase.

Ovulasi merupakan proses yang terjadi di dalam siklus menstruasi wanita. Pada proses ini folikel yang matang akan pecah dan mengeluarkan sel telur ke tuba falopi untuk dibuahi. Pada tahapan ini lapisan rahim telah menebal untuk mempersiapkan sel telur yang telah dibuahi. Jika pembuahan tidak terjadi, lapisan rahim serta darah akan diruntuhkan. Ovulasi dimulai pada masa pubertas dan terus berlangsung secara bulanan pada tahun-tahun usia subur. Ovulasi terhenti pada waktu kehamilan.
