Liga Nasional Sepak bola Amerika (Inggris: National Football League atau biasa disingkat NFL) merupakan kompetisi liga American football terbesar di dunia. Tim di liga ini terbagi menjadi dua konferensi, yaitu American Football Conference (AFC) dan National Football Conference. Konferensi ini masing-masing terbagi menjadi empat divisi menurut geogerafi, yaitu Utara, Barat, Selatan, dan Timur. NFL didirikan pada tahun 1920 dengan nama American Professional Football Association dan berganti nama menjadi National Football League pada tahun 1922.

Musim reguler berlangsung selama tujuh belas minggu dimana setiap tim memiliki waktu satu minggu bebas (bye week) dan bermain enam belas kali. Jadwal ini termasuk enam kali melawan tim sesama divisi (home-away), dan beberapa tim dari antar divisi dan antar konferensi. Musim reguler dimulai pada Kamis malam pada minggu pertama September (hari Kamis setelah Labor Day) dan berlangsung setiap minggu hingga akhir Desember atau awal Januari.

Di akhir musim reguler, enam tim dari setiap konferensi bermain di Playoff NFL, sebuah turnamen eliminasi dimana hanya menggunakan satu leg yang diisi oleh dua belas tim dan turnamen ini akan diakhiri dengan kompetisi final, yakni Super Bowl. Super Bowl dilangsungkan pada stadion yang ditentukan dimana biasanya menjadi markas tim NFL. Setelah diadakan Super Bowl, beberapa hari berikutnya diadakan Pro Bowl, semacam pertandingan All-Star dan diikuti oleh para pemain yang dipilih oleh jurnalis, pelatih, pemain dari masing-masing zona.

Pada musim 2010-2011, NFL merupakan pertandingan tingkat domestik dengan jumlah penonton yang paling banyak di dunia dalam hitungan rata-rata tiap pertandingan, yakni 66.960 orang per pertandingan.

Tim

Terbagi menjadi 32 tim. Beberapa tim maksimum 55 pemain. Berbeda dengan Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, National Basketball Association, dan National Hockey League, liga ini tidak diikuti tim dari Kanada-sebagian besar dikarenakan adanya kompetisi yang mirip bernama Canadian Football League.
