John Christopher "Kit" Wood (7 April 1901 – 21 Agustus 1930) adalah seorang pelukis Inggris yang berasal dari desa Knowsley di dekat Liverpool.
Kehidupan awal[sunting | sunting sumber]
Christopher Wood dilahirkan di Knowsley dari pasangan Dokter Lucius dan Clare Wood. Ia mengenyam pendidikan di Marlborough College di Wiltshire, dan sempat mencoba mempelajari kedokteran dan arsitektur di Universitas Liverpool sebelum akhirnya meniti karier sebagai seorang seniman.[1] Di Universitas Liverpool ia bertemu dengan Augustus John yang menyemangatinya untuk menjadi seorang pelukis. Kolektor Prancis Alphonse Kahn mengundang Wood ke Paris pada tahun 1920.[2] Dari tahun 1921, ia mulai belajar menjadi seorang pelukis di Académie Julian, Paris, dan di situ ia bertemu dengan Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Georges Auric, dan Diaghilev.[1][2]
