Apteronotidae adalah sebuah famili ikan bersirip kipas dalam ordo Gymnotiformes. Famili ikan ini berasal dari Panama dan Amerika Selatan.[1] Mereka mendiami berbagai habitat di perairan tawar, tetapi sebagian besar spesiesnya ditemukan jauh di dalam sungai (biasanya pada kedalaman lebih dari 5 meter) di mana terdapat sedikit cahaya atau tidak ada cahaya sama sekali.
