Newsboys adalah sebuah band musik pop rock Kristen yang dimulai tahun 1985 in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia. Mereka telah meluncurkan lebih dari 15 album, enam di antaranya bersertifikasi emas. Sekarang band ini terdiri dari vokalis utama Michael Tait yang asalnya dari DC Talk, pemain keyboard and bas Jeff Frankenstein, pemain gitar Jody Davis, dan pemain drum serta perkusi Duncan Phillips.

Sejarah

Band ini dibentuk di Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia pada tahun 1985 oleh dua orang muda: Peter Furler dan teman sekolahnya George Perdikis. Dua remaja lainnya ditambahkan tidak lama kemudian: teman baik Furler, John James, dan pemain bas Sean Taylor. Nama asli band ini adalah The News, tetapi ketika sampai di Amerika Serikat mereka mengganti nama menjadi "The Newsboys" supaya tidak rancu dengan band asal Amerika Huey Lewis and the News. God's Not Dead dirilis pada tanggal 15 November 2011.[6] Album live mereka dengan judul Live in Concert: God's Not Dead diluncurkan pada tanggal 22 Oktober 2012.[7] Pada tahun yang sama mereka juga merilis single "The League of Incredible Vegetables" untuk video VeggieTales The League of Incredible Vegetables. Band ini meluncurkan album studio mereka yang ke-16 Restart pada tanggal 10 September 2013.[8] Tur mereka "Restart Tour" berlangsung dari tanggal 20 September sampai 27 Oktober 2013.[8] Band ini juga menjadi bagian Winter Jam Tour 2013 dari bulan November 2013 sampai Maret 2014.[9]

Band ini tampil dalam film God's Not Dead, yang dirilis pada tahun 2014.[10] Kemudian band ini mengadakan tur dengan nama "We Believe Tour".[11] Mereka tampil pada acara BigChurchDayOut 2014.[12]
