Paspor Wilayah Administratif Khusus Hong Kong dikeluarkan kepada penduduk permanen Hong Kong yang merupakan warga negara Republik Rakyat Tiongkok.[1] Sesuai dengan Hukum Dasar Wilayah Administratif Khusus Hong Kon, sejak transfer kedaulatan pada 1 Juli 1997, paspor tersebut dikeluarkan oleh Departemen Imigrasi Pemerintah Hong Kong dibawah otorisasi Pemerintah Rakyat Pusat Republik Rakyat Tiongkok. Karena bahasa resmi di Hong Kong adalah Tionghoa dan Inggris, paspor tersebut dicetak secara bilingual dalam bahasa Tionghoa (karakter tradisional) dan Inggris.
Nama[sunting | sunting sumber]
Paspor tersebut terkadang disebut dengaan nama panjangnya yang tertera dibagian sampul (i.e. Paspor Wilayah Administratif Khusus Hong Kong Republik Rakyat Tiongkok – sebuah translasi literal dari nama Tionghoa 中華人民共和國香港特別行政區護照).[2][3][4] Secara alternatif, paspor tersebut umumnya disebut sebagai paspor Wilayah Administratif Khusus Hong Kong (Hanzi: 香港特別行政區護照)[1][5] (ordinansi legislatif Hong Kong menyatakan bahwa paspor tersebut bernama Ordinansi Paspor Wilayah Administratif Khusus Hong Kong (Bab 539)",[6] paspor WAK Hong Kong,[7][8][9][10][11] paspor WAKHK[1][12][13] atau paspor Hong Kong.[14]
Meskipun sejumlah otoritas luar negeri menyebut paspor WAK Hong Kong sebagai "paspor Hong Kong" – "香港護照" dalam bahasa Tionghoa
