John Wesley Powell (lahir 24 Maret 1834 – meninggal 23 September 1902 pada umur 68 tahun) adalah tentara, geolog, dan pengelana Amerika Serikat. Ia juga menjabat sebagai kepala US Geological Survey (1881–1894). Powell terkenal karena ekspedisinya ke Sungai Hijau, Colorado, dan Grand Canyon pada tahun 1869.
