Bulbophyllum adalah genus anggrek, anggota famili Orchidaceae. Marga ini merupakan marga terbesar dalam keluarga anggrek, dan juga salah satu marga terbesar tumbuhan berbunga dengan jumlah anggota lebih dari 2.000 spesies; hanya kalah jumlah dari marga Astragalus (suku Leguminosae). Kebanyakan berupa epifit atau litofit, anggrek-anggrek Bulbophyllum tumbuh di pelbagai habitat pada sebagian besar wilayah hangat di dunia; termasuk di berbagai wilayah Afrika, Asia bagian selatan, Amerika Latin, Hindia Barat, serta berbagai kepulauan di Samudra Hindia dan Pasifik.^[2]

Anggrek-anggrek marga ini memiliki perakaran yang seperti benang atau anyaman, yang merayap dan melekat di atas pepagan atau bebatuan atau menjulur dari rerantingan. Batangnya terbagi atas bagian yang berupa rimpang dan suatu batang semu yang menggembung yang dikenal sebagai pseudobulb; ciri yang membedakannya dari anggrek lain semacam Dendrobium. Biasanya hanya terdapat satu helaian daun di ujung pseudobulb; sementara tangkai bunga atau perbungaan muncul dari pangkal pseudobulb.

Saat ini telah lebih dari 2.800 nama ilmiah (nama yang diakui dan sinonim) diterbitkan bagi marga ini. Nama-nama itu terlebih jauh terbagi-bagi lagi ke dalam sekitar 120 seksi atau upamarga.^[3] Mengingat sangat beragamnya anggota marga ini, beberapa revisi telah dilakukan untuk memecah Bulbophyllum ke dalam marga-marga yang lebih kecil, akan tetapi kebanyakan hasilnya belum diakui oleh World Checklist of Selected Plant Families.
