May Death Never Stop You adalah album kompilasi hits terbaik dari My Chemical Romance, sebuah band musik rok dari Amerika.[1]
Latar Belakang[sunting | sunting sumber]
My Chemical Romance dibentuk pada tahun 2001, dan berperan besar dalam membawa aliran musik emo ke publik umum.[2] Mereka telah merilis empat album dan satu album kompilasi.[3]
Pada tanggal 22 Maret 2013, My Chemical Romance mengeluarkan pernyataan resmi mengenai pembubaran band mereka melalui website resmi band tersebut.[4][5] Pernyataan tersebut berbunyi:

Dua hari kemudian, pada tanggal 24 Maret 2013, vokalis dan frontman Gerard Way mengunggah sebuah esai sepanjang 2.200 kata mengenai alasan di balik perpisahan tersebut melalui akun Twitternya.[6] Melalui esai tersebut, Gerard menyatakan bahwa alasan dari perpisahan tersebut bukanlah karena perselisihan atau pertengkaran, namun karena para anggota menyadari bahwa sudah waktunya band ini berakhir.[7] Pembubaran ini adalah keputusan yang diambil bersama, dan bukan didorong oleh keputusan sepihak dari salah satu anggota.[7]
Tanggal 13 Desember 2013, My Chemical Romance sekali lagi menggunakan website mereka untuk mengumumkan rencana perilisan album kompilasi hits terbaik yang diberi judul May Death Never Stop You.[1] Album ini akan dirilis pada tanggal 25 Maret 2014 dan memuat lagu-lagu pilihan dari karier mereka selama 12 tahun, serta beberapa material yang belum pernah dirilis sebelumnya, termasuk lagu terakhir yang mereka kerjakan bersama-sama.[1]

Pre-order untuk album ini dibuka sejak 21 Januari 2014 melalui website resmi My Chemical Romance.[8]
Fake Your Death, single dari album ini yang juga merupakan lagu terakhir dari band ini, dirilis pada tanggal 17 Februari 2014 melalui BBC Radio 1.[9] Setelahnya, lagu ini dapat dibeli secara digital melalui iTunes.[10] Lagu ini juga disertai dengan video promosi khusus yang dirilis melalui akun YouTube resmi mereka.[11]
Album 'May Death Never Stop You' dirilis pada tanggal 25 Maret 2014 dan memuat 19 lagu serta video berdurasi total 2 jam.[12]
