Republik Minerva adalah salah satu dari sedikit usaha modern untuk membentuk negara berdaulat pada Karang Minerva tahun 1972. Perancangnya adalah milyuner Las Vegas dan aktivis politik Michael Oliver.
Dengan peristiwa ini, pada 24 Februari 1923 Tonga mengklaim Karang Minerva dan menganeksasinya pada 15 Juni. Tindakan ini didukung oleh Forum Pasifik Selatan pada bulan September.
