The photo back indicates that he was working at WMBC radio and also performing at a Detroit cafe. Thomas worked at WMBC from 1932 to 1940 on a local radio show called The Happy Hour Club. He moved to Chicago in 1940 and it was there where he changed his name to Danny Thomas. | ||

There are no identification markings on the photo. It may have been the property of Thomas himself and was distributed by him when he tried for bookings and for publicity purposes. The cafe he was performing at may have distributed it to the local newspaper to publicize his engagement at their establishment.
