William Seward Burroughs II (/ˈbʌroʊz/; 5 Februari 1914 – 2 Agustus 1997) adalah seorang penulis dan seniman visual asal Amerika, yang secara luas dianggap sebagai figur utama dari Beat Generation dan penulis besar pascamodernisme yang memengaruhi budaya dan sastra populer.[1][2][3] Burroughs menulis delapan belas novel, enam kumpulan cerita pendek dan empat kumpulan esai, dan lima buku wawancara dan korespondensinya telah diterbitkan; dia awalnya dikenal sebentar dengan nama pena William Lee. Dia juga berkolaborasi dalam proyek dan rekaman dengan banyak pemain dan musisi, membuat banyak penampilan dalam film, dan menciptakan serta memamerkan ribuan karya seni visual, termasuk "Seni Shotgun" miliknya yang terkenal.[4]
