The Sound and the Fury adalah sebuah novel karangan William Faulkner. Ceritanya menggunakan beberapa gaya naratif, termasuk aliran kesadaran. Diterbitkan pada tahun 1929, The Sound and the Fury adalah novel keempat Faulkner, dan tidak langsung bisa sukses. Akan tetapi, pada tahun 1931, ketika novel keenam Faulkner, Sanctuary, diterbitkan—sebuah cerita sensasional, yang kemudian dikatakan Faulkner ditulis hanya untuk uang. The Sound and the Fury juga menjadi sukses secara komersial, dan Faulkner mulai menerima perhatian kritis.[1]
