Linda "Lin" Shaye (lahir 12 Oktober 1943) adalah seorang aktris teater, film dan televisi Amerika Serikat. Ia dijuluki sebagai "ratu jeritan" karena perannya dalam berbagai waralaba atau film horor termasuk A Nightmare on Elm Street, Critters, Insidious, Dead End, 2001 Maniacs dan sekuelnya 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, Alone in the Dark, Amityville: A New Generation, Tales of Halloween, Abattoir, Ouija, dan prekuelnya Ouija: Origin of Evil. Shaye juga dikenal dalam peran komedinya dalam berbagai film oleh Farrelly brothers, termasuk Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, dan There's Something About Mary.
Kehidupan awal[sunting | sunting sumber]
Shaye dilahirkan di Detroit, Michigan, putri pasangan Dorothy (née Katz), seorang ibu rumah tangga, dan Max Mendle Shaye, pelukis dan pemilik supermarket. Kakaknya adalah eksekutif film Robert Shaye.[1] Keluarganya adalah Yahudi; ibunya lahir di Rusia, dan kakeknya dari pihak ayah berasal dari Rumania.[2][3][4] Shaye mempelajari seni peran di Universitas Michigan sebelum pindah ke New York untuk tampil dalam produksi Off Broadway. Pada tahun 1977, ia pindah ke Los Angeles untuk melanjutkan karier aktingnya.[5]
Kehidupan pribadi[sunting | sunting sumber]
Shaye telah menikah sebanyak dua kali. Suami pertamanya meninggal pada tahun 1968. Pada tahun 1988, ia menikahi aktor Clayton Landey, yang bersamanya tampil dalam Wish You Were Dead tahun 2002. Pasangan ini memiliki satu orang anak[5] sebelum bercerai tahun 2003.
