Baning Floreana ( Chelonoidis niger niger ), juga dikenal sebagai baning pulau Charles , adalah subspesies baning Galápagos yang telah punah dan endemik di kepulauan Galápagos di Samudera Pasifik timur khatulistiwa . Julukan khusus niger ('hitam') mungkin mengacu pada pewarnaan spesimen holotipe . Nama spesies sering salah dieja sebagai nigra , sebuah kesalahan yang terjadi pada tahun 1980-an ketika Chelonoidis diangkat ke genus dan secara keliru dianggap sebagai feminin, sebuah kesalahan yang dikenali dan diperbaiki pada tahun 2017.
