Léon Printemps (26 Mei 1871 – 9 Juli 1945) adalah seorang pelukis berkebangsaan Prancis.

Biografi[sunting | sunting sumber]

Léon Printemps lahir di Paris dari keluarga yang awalnya berasal dari Lille. Sejak usia dini ia tertarik untuk melukis.

Pamannya, pematung Jules Printemps, seorang siswa François Jouffroy di École nationale des Beaux-Arts, mendukung panggilannya dan mempersiapkannya untuk ujian masuk ini sekolah. Dia diterima pada tahun 1892, bergabung dengan bengkel Gustave Moreau dan secara teratur mengunjunginya sampai kematian Moreau pada tahun 1898. Dia juga berhubungan dengan seniman seperti Rouault, Matisse , Evenepoel, Albert Marquet, Edgar Maxence dan Charles Milcendeau.

Sekitar periode ini karyanya sebagian besar merupakan bagian dari Gerakan simbolis dan ia bereksperimen dengan visi puitis atau mitologis dan dengan sensualitas telanjang wanita.
