Richard Robert Ernst (lahir 14 Agustus 1933) adalah kimiawan fisika asal Swiss dan pemenang Hadiah Nobel.
Lahir di Winterthur, Swiss, Ernst dianugerahi Penghargaan Nobel dalam Kimia pada tahun 1991 untuk sumbangannya atas pengembangan spektroskopi resonansi magnetik nuklir transformasi Fourier selama di Varian Associates, Palo Alto dan perkembangan lebih lanjut atas teknik RMN multidimensi. RMN diterapkan pada bidang kimia dan kedokteran. Ia juga menerima Penghargaan Louisa Gross Horwitz pada tahun 1991.
Ia belajar dan bertugas di Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (Lembaga Teknologi Federal) di Zürich, Swiss yang dari situ sekarang ia pensiun. Ia adlaah dokter kehormatan dari Universitas Teknik Munchen dan Universitas Zurich.
Ia adlaah anggota World Knowledge Dialogue Scientific Board.
