Peter Bellwood adalah seorang dosen arkeologi di School of Archaeology and Anthropology Australian National University (ANU) di Canberra, Australia. Bidang kepakarannya mencakup prasejarah Asia Tenggara dan Pasifik dari segi arkeologi, linguistik dan biologi, asal-usul pertanian dan akibatnya dalam perkembangan kebudayaan, bahasa dan biologi, kaitan interdisipliner antara arkeologi, linguistik dan biologi manusia. Tahun 2009 dia masih terlibat dalam proyek arkeologi lapangan di Filipina dan Vietnam.[1]

Professor Bellwood adalah sekretaris jenderal Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association dan editor Bulletin of the Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association dan anggota dewan redaksi Asian Perspective, Journal of Archaeological Method and Theory, Journal of Austronesian Studies, Journal of World Prehistory, Review of Archaeology dan Sarawak Museum Journal.
