Formula Satu musim 1955 merupakan musim ke-6 Kejuaraan Dunia Formula Satu FIA yang dimulai pada tanggal 16 Januari 1955, dan berakhir pada tanggal 11 September setelah tujuh lomba.[1] Di musim ini juga digelar beberapa balapan non-kejuaraan yang melengkapi lomba-lomba resmi. Tampil sebagai juara dunia adalah Juan Manuel Fangio yang menjadi gelar dunia ketiganya. Fangio menjadi juara dunia bersama tim Mercedes Grand Prix.
Ringkasan musim
Pembalap Mercedes kembali mendominasi kejuaraan, dengan Fangio memenangkan empat balapan, dan rekan setim barunya Stirling Moss di Grand Prix Inggris. Ferrari menang di Monaco setelah semua mobil Mercedes mogok dan pembalap Lancia Alberto Ascari jatuh ke pelabuhan. Meskipun Ascari tampaknya tidak terluka, Juara Dunia ganda ini mengalami kecelakaan fatal di Monza saat menguji mobil sport empat hari kemudian.
Bencana di 24 Hours of Le Mans pada tanggal 11 Juni yang menewaskan Pierre Levegh dan lebih dari 80 penonton menyebabkan pembatalan Grand Prix Prancis, Jerman, Spanyol dan Swiss. Putaran Prancis, yang seharusnya diadakan di Reims di antara putaran Belanda dan Inggris, pada tanggal 3 Juli, pertama kali dijadwal ulang menjadi 25 September dan kemudian dibatalkan. Pembatalan ini secara efektif memberikan gelar Pembalap kepada Fangio setelah ia finis di urutan ke-2 untuk Moss di Grand Prix Inggris; meskipun ia tidak benar-benar dinobatkan sebagai juara sampai jauh setelah Grand Prix Inggris, karena putaran Jerman, Swiss dan Spanyol dibatalkan setelah Grand Prix Inggris berlangsung.
Musim 1955 akan menjadi musim terakhir bagi Mercedes Benz sebagai konstruktor sampai kebangkitan tim pada tahun 2010. Ini juga akan menandai kemenangan terakhir bagi Mercedes hingga Grand Prix Tiongkok 2012.
Selain kematian Ascari tahun ini, pembalap Italia Mario Alborghetti meninggal dunia di Grand Prix Pau yang bukan kejuaraan di Prancis saat mengendarai Maserati; dan selama Indianapolis 500, dua pembalap tewas selama acara yang berlangsung sebulan itu: Manny Ayulo dari Amerika dalam latihan dan pemenang lomba sebelumnya Bill Vukovich selama balapan dua minggu kemudian.
