Sampah angkasa adalah obyek di orbit sekitar Bumi yang diciptakan oleh manusia, yang tidak lagi berguna. Sampah angkasa terdiri dari satelit yang tidak berfungsi lagi hingga fragmentasi ledakan, debu, atau partikel kecil lainnya.[1] Awan partikel yang sangat kecil dapat menyebabkan kerusakan erosif.
