Eleazar S. Fernandez
Eleazar S. Fernandez adalah seorang teolog dari Filipina.[1] Ia juga seorang profesor dan pastor dari Kesatuan Gereja Kristus atau United Church of Christ di Filipina.[2] Eleazer membangun teologinya berdasarkan konteks penindasan yang dialami masyarakat Filipina dari penjajahan Spanyol, Amerika dan Jepang serta para penguasa yang ada.[2] Teologi yang ia kemukakan dikenal dengan teologi perjuangan.[1] Teologi perjuangan merupakan simbol atas usaha melepaskan diri penindasan yang menyebabkan penderitaan dan kemiskinan.[1] Perjuangan menurut Eleazer adalah perjuangan untuk membebaskan demi sebuah identitas, mimpi dan perubahan. Teologi perjuangan adalah bentuk teologi yang sesuai dengan konteks yang dihadapi oleh orang Filipina.[1] Teologi ini lahir dari pergumulan konteks Filipina yang hidup dalam penindasan dan pengharapakan akan datangnya sang pembebas.[1] Teologi ini berangkat dari perspektif korban dan menekankan pada tindakan praksis, serta refleksi. Teologi ini berusaha untuk menyatukan antara Spiritual, penyelamatan, Allah, penindasan dalam komunitas, kristologi, dan ekklesiologi.[1]
