John Edward Christopher Hill (6 Februari 1912 – 23 Februari 2003) adalah seorang akademisi dan sejarawan Marxis Inggris, yang mengkhususkan diri dalam sejarah Inggris abad ke-17. Dari 1965 sampai 1978, ia menjadi Master di Balliol College, Oxford University.

Kehidupan awal

Chris Hill lahir pada 6 Februari 1912, Bishopthorpe Road, York, dari pasangan Edward Harold Hill dan Janet Augusta (née Dickinson). Ayahnya adalah seorang solicitor dan keluarganya adalah Methodis taat. Ia masuk St Peter's School, York.

Kehidupan pribadi

Hill menikah dengan Inez Waugh (née Bartlett) pada 17 Januari 1944. Ia adalah mantan istri dari Ian Anthony Waugh dan putri dari seorang perwira angkatan darat, Gordon Bartlett. Mereka memiliki seorang putri, Fanny, yang tenggelam saat berlibur di Spanyol pada 1986. Pernikahan mereka kandas setelah sepuluh tahun.

Istri keduanya adalah Bridget Irene Mason (née Sutton), mantan istri dari Stephen Mason, dan seorang komunis dan sejarawan sejarawatnya. Mereka menikah pada 2 Januari 1956.
