Charles John Ellicott (25 April 1819 – 15 Oktober 1905) adalah seorang teolog, akademika, dan rohaniawan Kristen terkemuka asal Inggris. Ia pernah menjabat sebagai Dean of Exeter, kemudian Uskup “the united see of Gloucester and Bristol”.

Kehidupan awal dan keluarga

Ia dilahirkan di Whitwell, Rutland pada tanggal 25 April 1819, dan belajar di Stamford School serta St John's College, Cambridge. Ia menikah dengan Constantia Ann Becher di St Marylebone Parish Church, London pada tanggal 31 Juli 1848. Salah satu putra mereka adalah komOne of their children was the composer Rosalind Ellicott.

Karier eklesiastik

Setelah ditahbiskan menjadi Pendeta Anglikan pada tahun 1848, ia menjabat sebagai Vikar di Pilton, Rutland dan kemudian menjadi Profesor Divinity pada King's College London dan Hulsean Professor of Divinity di Universitas Cambridge. Pada tahun 1861, ia ditunjuk menjadi Dean of Exeter. Dua tahun kemudian ia dinominasikan sebagai uskup “united sees of Gloucester and Bristol” pada tanggal 6 Februari dan dikonsekrasi pada tanggal 25 Maret 1863. Pada tahun 1897, ia meletakkan jabatan sebagai uskup Bristol, tetapi meneruskan sebagai Uskup Gloucester sampai turun jabatan pada tanggal 27 Februari 1905. Ia meninggal di Kent pada tanggal 15 Oktober 1905, dalam usia 86 tahun.
