Bibionidae adalah sebuah famili lalat (Diptera) yang mencakup sekitar 650-700 spesies di seluruh dunia. Dewasa memakan nektar dan muncul secara massal di musim semi. Karena kemungkinan lalat dewasa untuk ditemukan saat sedang kawin, mereka mendapat julukan seperti serangga cinta atau lalat bulan madu.[1]
Larvanya tumbuh di daerah berumput dan merupakan hewan herbivor dan pebangkai, memakan vegetasi mati atau akar tumbuhan hidup. Beberapa spesies ditemukan di kompos.[2]
