Shemar Franklin Moore (US /ʃəˌmɑːr ˈmuːr/; lahir 20 April 1970) adalah seorang aktor Amerika dan mantan model busana. Peran terkenalnya adalah sebagai Malcolm Winters pada serial The Young and the Restless dari tahun 1994 hingga 2005, Derek Morgan pada serial Criminal Minds pada stasiun televisi CBS mulai tahun 2005 hingga 2016, dan sebagai pemandu acara tetap ketiga di Soul Train dari tahun 1999 hingga 2003. Moore kini berperan sebagai Daniel "Hondo" Harrellson di serial S.W.A.T.

Kehidupan awal[sunting | sunting sumber]

Shemar Franklin Moore terlahir di Oakland, California, anak dari Marilyn Wilson, seorang konsultan bisnis, dan Sherrod Moore.[1] Ayah Moore adalah seorang Amerika Afrika dan ibunya, yang terlahir di Roxbury, Massachusetts, adalah keturunan Irlandia dan keturunan Prancis-Kanada.[2][3][4] Ibunya yang memiliki gelar dalam bidang matematika, bekerja sebagai seorang guru di Bahrain dan Denmark. Moore mengikuti ibunya pindah ke Denmark ketika masih bayi, dan kemudian ke Bahrain ketika ia berusia empat tahun dimana ia bersekolah di Sekolah privat Inggris hingga usia tujuh tahun. Moore mengutip penahanan yang tidak berperikemanusiaan, hubungan interrasial sebagai hal tabu dan rasisme di USA pada tahun 70-an sebagai bagian dari alasan kepindahan dia dan ibunya keluar negeri.[4] Kembali ke California pada tahun 1977, keluarganya pindah ke Chico, California, dimana ibunya bekerja di sebuah klinik, sebelum kemudian berpindah ke Palo Alto. Shemar Moore lulus dari Gunn High School di Palo Alto.[4] Ia melanjutkan studi di Universitas Santa Clara mengambil bidang komunikasi, dan bekerja sebagai model untuk membiayai hidup.[5] Ibunya sekarang ini tinggal di Pacifica, California dimana ia kerap mengunjungi dari waktu ke waktu.

Moore memerankan Malcolm Winters pada serial The Young and the Restless selama delapan tahun. Pada November 2004, ia kembali ke serial The Young and the Restless sebelum awalnya meninggalkan serial tersebut, akan tetapi setelah beberapa bulan kembali sementara dan meninggalkan serial ini pada bulan September 2005. Pada tahun 2007, ia mengatakan, "Waktu saya telah selesai di Y&R. Saya telah berperan sebagai Malcolm selama delapan tahun penuh" (My time is done on Y&R. I did eight solid years as Malcolm.)[6]

Ia adalah pembawa acara serial Soul Train dari tahun 2000 hingga 2003[7] dan tampil dalam film The Brothers tahun 2001.[8] Ia memerankan Detektif Jesse Reese dalam serial televisi Birds of Prey dari tahun 2002 hingga 2003.[9] Moore juga memerankan Emery Simms pada sebuah film tahun 2004 berjudul Motives bersama dengan Vivica Fox dan Golden Brooks. Ia juga mendapatkan peran pendukung dalam film Diary of a Mad Black Woman.[10] Ia juga tampil dalam film komedi romantsi The Seat Filler bersama Kelly Rowland dan Duane Martin.

Film Criminal Minds merupakan film rintisan (pilot) ketujuh yang audisinya dia ikuti.[6] Dalam satu episode, ia tengah menonton acara The Young and the Restless ketika masuk ke kamar hotel Dr. Reid, rekan kerjanya.

Ia menandatangani kontrak dengan DNA Model Management di Kota New York. Ia tampil pada edisi bulan Maret 2009 majalah Men's Fitness.[11]

Sekitar tahun 1998, Ibu Moore didiagnose menderita multiple sclerosis. Moore, bersama dengan pemeran serial Criminal Minds, telah melakukan beberapa acara pemungutan dana guna mendukung riset atas MS.[12]
