David Yates (lahir 8 Oktober 1963) adalah sutradara, produser, dan penulis skenario berkebangsaan Inggris yang telah menyutradarai sejumlah film layar lebar, film pendek, dan produksi televisi. Ia dikenal karena menyutradarai empat film terakhir seri Harry Potter dan tiga film prekuelnya, Fantastic Beasts.[2][3] Karyanya dalam seri Harry Potter membuatnya sukses baik secara kritis maupun komersial dan meraih beberapa penghargaan, termasuk British Academy Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.[3]
Yates menyutradarai berbagai film pendek dan menjadi sutradara televisi pada awal kariernya. Karya-karyanya antara lain film thriller politik enam bagian State of Play (2003), yang memenangkan Penghargaan Directors Guild of Great Britain Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, drama dokumenter dewasa Sex Traffic (2004) dan film televisi peraih Emmy Award The Girl in the Café (2005).[2][4]
Yates adalah salah seorang pendiri perkumpulan Directors UK.[5] Ia menjalin hubungan kemitraan yang erat dengan Warner Bros. sebagai sutradara dan produser.[6]
